The tools I use
Hardware
This is most of the hardware I use day-to-day.
Computer(s)
- MacBook Pro 16" M4 Pro – Work laptop.
- MacBook Air 13" M4 – Personal laptop.
- Mac Mini M4 Pro – Home Server.
Phone(s)
- iPhone 17 Pro – The first iPhone where I'm somewhat happy with the cameras.
Everything else
- Monitor: Samsung ViewFinity S9 – I got this on sale, the panel is good, but the entire software story is crap. Why would I connect my monitor to the internet?
- Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID – I kinda like it, and more importantly it doesn't make my RSI flare up.
- Apple Magic Trackpad & MX Master 3s – I switch between these as needed.
- AirPods Pro 3 – They're really good, but my ears don't love them for long periods of time.
- AirPods Max – I use these as overkill conference headphones because they're comfy.
Software
This is most of the software I use to get stuff done.
Development
- Zed – love, love, love this. Feels way snappier than VS Code.
- Ghostty – no notes.
Browsers
- I've been using Zen lately, a spiritual successor to Arc.
- Outside of work I just use Safari.
CLI tools
- I use zsh as my shell with oh-my-posh on top and a custom theme.
- For Kubernetes I use kubectl, kubectx (& kubens with fzf)
- For quickly switching between Azure subscriptions I use azctx + fzf
- Lots and lots of Terraform
